About the Author:
Josh Raskoff is the Author and Illustrator behind These Animals Hit The Slopes: An Alpine, Animal, Alphabet Book.
A California kid, he grew up skiing all over the north and south shores of Lake Tahoe in the Sierras. His background is in Sports Management, Parks, Rec, and Tourism, through Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where China Peak was the closest mountain for day trips between classes. He earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at New York Med, where he learned anatomy by drawing it in extreme detail... and learned to carve lines through ice, mostly in Vermont. He returned to San Francisco, the backside of a decade ago, to start a career in Sports Medicine (and be closer to a proper mountain range.) Shortly after returning, he married his wife Kelly, an avid snowboarder, at the top of Heavenly.
The book was a passion project, inspired in part due to fatigue from reading aloud the tracked out, routine rhyming children's books. He wrote the poems in 2018 during paternity time after the birth of his first boy, Hudson. He illustrated, designed, and published the book independently in 2020, shortly after the birth of his second son, Quinn.
